Romano: Milan’s first signing of the 2023 summer window already wrapped up

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have already wrapped up their first addition of the 2023 summer transfer window and it will be a free, according to a report.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Milan will sign goalkeeper Marco Sportiello in the summer after an agreement was reached between the parties. He will join the club as a free agent from Atalanta in July.

Sportiello will be new back-up goalkeeper for Mike Maignan, who will obviously continue as the regular starter and hopefully with less injury problems compared to the last couple of seasons when he has spent lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Sportiello first began at Atalanta back in 1999 when he joined the youth system, and he returned 10 years ago after spells at Seregno, Poggibonsi and Carpi. He has been on loan at Fiorentina and most recently Frosinone, but now appears set for a new challenge not far from his current Bergamo base.

    1. No, he’s not. Where did you get that from? He’s nearly 6’4. And he’s 30 yo, and proven. Dude’s pretty good for a backup keeper.
