Milan set for busy January with AS Roma and Bologna clashes – the fixtures

AC Milan will be enduring another busy month in January as they get ready for a tough Serie A fixture list, as well as their first involvement in the Coppa Italia this season.

The action is going to get underway for Milan in the cup as on January 2, they will be at home to the Sardinian side in the Round of 16.

Milan will want to make sure they progress to the quarter-finals given they went out in the round of 16 last season by losing 1-0 to Torino.

After that match, there are four Serie A games for Stefano Pioli’s team to navigate. They will be looking to build on the 1-0 win over Sassuolo in the final match of 2023.

The first match is favourable as they travel to face Empoli on January 7, who have spent much of the campaign in the relegation zone.

A week later, things get more difficult as they host AS Roma at San Siro who will be trying to get into the top four at Milan’s expense.

The following weekend, Milan are away at an Udinese side that can cause surprises and certainly are not easy to beat, but also seem to pose little threat going forward.

Finally on January 27, Milan will be hosting Bologna, one of the surprise packages of the season and a genuine contender to qualify for the Champions League.
