AC Milan and West Ham United have agreed a deal that will see striker Niclas Füllkrug become the first January signing, reports claim.
In the past few days, a number of reports have claimed that Füllkrug is closing in on joining Milan, who set out to sign a new centre-forward in the winter given their attacking issue and the ankle surgery Santiago Gimenez has undergone.

Now, Fabrizio Romano reports: “Niclas Füllkrug to AC Milan, here we go! Deal in place for loan move until June 2026. AC Milan will cover his salary, no loan fee and buy option around €13/14m not mandatory. Füllkrug wanted Milan despite two bids from Germany. Story revealed weeks ago, now done.”
His colleague Matteo Moretto confirms the development: “Deal closed for Niclas Füllkrug to Milan. Free loan operation until the end of the season. Salary entirely covered by the Rossoneri club. The striker is expected in Milan in the coming hours. Report confirmed.”
A point to prove
Milan need goals from their new number nine, but the issue is that Füllkrug has only scored three in his past 18 months at West Ham, who he joined in the 2024 summer window from Dortmund.
Looking at his injury history, Fullkrug missed 16 games for club and country in 2024-25 due to an Achilles tendon issue, then another 12 in the same season because of a hamstring problem.
He missed four games this season with another muscle injury, so his physical reliability is another big question mark, but one that he will be determined to answer, especially ahead of the World Cup next year.

Not convinced, but low risk in general
If he can give us that something extra against teams like Sassuolo, cremonese and co. he did his job.
The bigger problem i potentialy see is that again wont see a classic, proven number 9 in the summer. We lost chances at supercoppa and coppa italia and this season obviously no revenue from CL. So we are potentially looking at 60mil if we win the league. Given that we saw that Redbird doesnt want to spend any of their money on transfers but only rely on sales(157mil spent vs 164mil earned from player sales) we have to expect some transfers.
Why we keep looking for new player while we have own player like Luka Jovic but we didn’t use it properly

We do not have Jovic. He is gone. But the spirit of your post is correct; I’d rather have Jovic than this has-been, washed, injury-prone Fullkrug who no longer scores goals. Too late for Jovic though; he has already separated from Milan at the end of his contract, which Milan chose not to renew.
According to media reports in the spring AC Milan actually did want to renew his contract but Jovic wanted a 2 year extension whereas Milan only wanted to renew with 1 year so Milan allowed him to leave instead. When that is said I would also rather have had Jovic but maybe Fullkrug will fit in better with Allegris tactics, only time will tell though.

As another commenter pointed out previously…just think if we spent the 70-75M on a player like Oshimen instead of the trash that is Giminez (35M) and Nkunku (40M)…..LOLOLOLO.
Leao/Oshimen would have been devastating – BUT alas we drop the ball yet again.
