Watch: Why Milan were furious about Bennacer’s disallowed goal vs. Inter

The AC Milan players and management were left furious after Ismael Bennacer saw a goal disallowed during the second half of the Coppa Italia semi-final defeat to Inter.

After Bennacer stepped up to thump an effort in from 25 yards, the referee was surrounded by Inter players asking for a handball on Fikayo Tomori, but in the end the goal was inexplicably ruled out for an apparently offside on Pierre Kalulu.

Pioli was furious after the game and left his interview early after seeing the footage again. We’ll let you make your own mind up, but it seems from the video and the image that De Vrij was the man blocking the view of Handanovic, if indeed anyone was.

There was no appeal for an offside from the Inter goalkeeper after the goal went in, nor did he even attempt to save the ball. Nonetheless, the three goals conceded at the other end meant there are other things to worry about.
