LecceNews24: Milan could secure return of former goalkeeper to be Maignan’s deputy

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are on the hunt for a new back-up goalkeeper and they could bring Gabriel back to the club, according to a report.

LecceNews24 report how Lecce – who finished top of Serie B in 2021-22 thus earning promotion back to the top flight – conceded the least number of goals in the entire league, and it is thanks to the entire defensive core but also Gabriel.

He let in just 31 goals all season at less than a goal per game on average. However, the Brazilian decided not to renew his deal and will leave on a free transfer this summer, with a return to Milan possibly on the cards where he arrived 10 years ago.

After spells at Carpi, Napoli, Cagliari, Empoli and Perugia including some loans in both Serie A and Serie B, Gabriel is ready to join a big club again and the Rossoneri are eyeing him as Mike Maignan’s new deputy, but they face competition from Torino.

  1. When I saw the headline before reading the story I thought it was about Dollaruma. I almost laughed

    1. so did I, and thought no way. We win the Scudetto it will be largely in part do to Maignan. We won some (many) games do to some unbelievable saves by Mike which are rarely highlighted.
