AC Milan made hard work of things at the Stadio Bentegodi last night against Hellas Verona but Sandro Tonali came to the rescue once again.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that after the defeat in the Champions League against Chelsea, Milan needed to react immediately in the league and did so by winning at Verona. It was a far from straightforward game against a side who looked fired up for Salvatore Bocchetti’s first game in charge, but Tonali – who scored a brace back on 8 May – scored the winner late on.
The Rossoneri struggled a lot against a Verona side who has just changed coaches and who appeared well up for the fight to the extent that they might have deserved a draw, but in football concentration is needed right until the end.
Stefano Pioli celebrated his 150th match in charge of Milan and while he can be satisfied with the result, the performance left a lot to be desired. Something went wrong, certainly the fatigue (physical and mental) after the Champions League made itself felt, but there is no midweek game this time and so there should be some time to rest up before Monza arrive on Saturday.
