MP: ‘Common sense must prevail’ – Milan have simple mission to please Allegri this summer

This summer, some may suggest that AC Milan have it relatively easy. Indeed, all they must do is provide Massimiliano Allegri with the tools to improve.

Whichever way you look at the upcoming mercato, most of it falls back to the same thing. Allegri needs the tools to compete, both in the league and hopefully the Champions League. It is possible that with a greater amount of squad depth, and ultimately quality, the hopefully part of that sentence would not be there.

Nevertheless, Allegri finds himself in a place where the qualification for next year’s European competition is not guaranteed, as it once seemed it’d be. Indeed, there is a lot of work still to do, and conviction must be given to him if he can achieve it.

A simple summer

So, as MilanPress writes, this summer ‘common sense must prevail’. Allegri requires at least four high quality signings, in every area of the pitch, except from a goalkeeper.

A central defender is a must, someone who allows greater rotation opportunities, as well as raising the general quality. Additionally, a serious investment ‘must’ be made into the third piece of the midfield, partnering Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric.

Another wing-back cannot be ignored, given the current options are slim, and rotational options are difficult to rely upon. Then, the biggest point of interest is the striker, where the Diavolo have been desperate for investment for years.
