It seems that AC Milan’s list of potential sporting directors has become one name shorter as Andrea Berta will not be arriving.
As we reported and as is being widely spoken about by the Italian media, Milan intend to hire a new director to insert into the management, allowing Geoffrey Moncada to return to being predominantly a chief scout.
According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanPress), Berta will not be the new sporting director of Milan. The Italian manager – who was at Atletico Madrid until December – was contacted by the Rossoneri, but the timing was not right.
The 53-year-old from Brescia already has an agreement with a club abroad, and Milan simply came forward too late. Two more names under consideration are are Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare, formerly of Juventus and Lazio respectively.
Carlos Passerini, a journalist for Corriere della Sera, spoke in a bit more detail about the topic in a video on his YouTube channel (via MilanNews).
“The sporting director is the first figure to be identified for the Milan that will be. It will not be Andrea Berta. Italian, from Brescia, he is the man who made Atletico Madrid great together with Simeone,” he said.
“Milan spoke to him, made him an offer, but they arrived late, because Berta already had an agreement abroad. He could have been the right profile for Milan: not too cumbersome in the media, but someone who works well; it would have been a solution that he would have liked very much, also to get closer to home.
“In fact, they will not get close. Then in any case, timing is not a trivial detail. The name of Paratici, formerly of Juventus, is mentioned, and others are mentioned. What is certain is that there is a need for an experienced profile. Bringing Moncada back to his original role as a scout, I think, is a good idea.”
And the infuriating thing is that we had Maldini and Massara, and there was absolutely no need to do a total bloody reset.
This mess is on the ownership. Let’s just hope this does not lead to 10+ years in the wilderness again after 1 Serie A and 1 semifinal appearance in the CL.
Because Gerry is looking for another obedient stooge and not someone who’ll actually perform and build something worthy of this club’s name and history.
Winning is boring remember?
Feels like Gerry was hired on by Elliott to get this stadium issue off the ground. Not even to run the club. That’s what the three monkeys are there for.
And the stadium even hit a standstill as Milan don’t have the money to build it at San Donato and are just stalling time to figure out what to do. Doesn’t sound like investors are rushing in to help Milan.
If Milan not sacked Maldini & massara, maybe Milan on the right hands and have stability. This management don’t understand about football, especially Italian football. They have to pay this chaos…
The problem is Moncada will still have a role In the technical field
