The trip to Salernitana was talked about by many as a potential banana skin, and it proved to be one as AC Milan drew 2-2 with Serie A’s bottom-placed side.
This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how Milan now face an uphill road to the Scudetto after their slip up down south, unless Inter and Napoli make the same mistake as the Rossoneri.
Salernitana played with heart and courage but on the face of things should not have been a tough opponents for a side who want to win the title, yet at the Arechi we saw one of the worst versions of Milan in recent months as they were sloppy.
With this evidence of immaturity it is difficult, if not impossible, to think of being able to win the Scudetto. Of course the season is still long and anything can happen, but slip-ups like this can be fatal because they take away enthusiasm and convictions as well as easy and precious points.
Now Milan need to raise their heads immediately against Udinese, without expecting any favours from anyone.
