CF: Milan, Inter and Atalanta benefit financially from Juve’s UCL exit – the reason

Now that Juventus have been knocked out of the Champions League, AC Milan have a double reason to smile, according to a report.

According to Calcio e Finanza (via PianetaMilan), Milan Inter and Atalanta will benefit financially from yesterday’s defeat for Max Allegri’s side against Villarreal, as the Spaniards ran out shock 3-0 winners in Turin to secure a 4-1 aggregate victory.

This means that the revenues relating to the market pool will increase. These are based on a fixed part derived from league finish in the last season, and a variable part which changes based on the number of games played by the teams from that nation in the Champions League.

This amount therefore will have to be shared with the other teams from the same country participating in the competition so if Juve had passed the round they would have increased their variable share, thus reducing the proceeds of the others.

Inter have earned the most with the market pool (€13.7m), followed by Milan (€10.3m), Atalanta (€8.3m) and Juventus (€7.7m).
