CM: Milan, Inter and Leipzig want Chelsea defender – why the Rossoneri might have an edge

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have turned their attentions to Chelsea once again in their hunt for a new central defender and a market derby with Inter could be on the cards, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are looking for a centre-back to replace Alessio Romagnoli numerically, but they are also looking for a more versatile player than the now-Lazio defender.

Abdou Diallo of Paris Saint-Germain and Japhet Tanganga of Tottenham were sought – both of whom can also play full-back – and in the last few hours the Rossoneri have registered an interest in Trevoh Chalobah.

The 23-year-old Chelsea youth sector product can play both as a central defender and as a defensive midfielder, qualities that have also earned him the admiration of RB Leipzig and above all Inter, who have already talked with his entourage.

Chelsea want €3m for a season-long loan and they would then agree to an option to buy being inserted. Chalobah is pushing for a move to Italy and now he also has an extra suitor, where he could reunite with Fikayo Tomori and Tiemoue Bakayoko, operations that show how strong the relationship between Milan and Chelsea is.
