MN: A derby of ‘Shivers’ where Milan beating Inter could ‘Open all doors’ in the title race

By Oliver Fisher -

With 20 minutes of the derby left it looked as though AC Milan’s title hopes were pretty much over, but they summoned energy from somewhere to win 2-1 thanks to Olivier Giroud’s brace.

MilanNews writes how the final of the famous Italian music festival Sanremo 2022 ended with a duel between ‘Shivers’ by Mahmood and Blanco and then ‘Open all doors’ by Gianni Morandi, which is the perfect way to described a hotly contested derby, because there were goosebumps and a win for the Rossoneri that reopens the title race.

For most of the match it seemed to be one-sided with Inter having dominated the game in the first half, creating several big chances thwarted by a super Mike Maignan. Then came Giroud’s shoulder to shoulder with Sanchez and then the tap-in, and three minutes later a wonderful spin to get rid of De Vrij and finish.

Milan have moved a point behind their city rivals albeit with a game more played, but the effect of a result like this cannot be understated. Milan are there, they believe and they will not give up, trying to take advantage of certain moments. The doors are open!
