AC Milan have registered an interest in signing Arsenal defender William Saliba ahead of next season, according to a report from England.
The Daily Mirror report that the Rossoneri are keen on signing Saliba to bolster their centre-back department ahead of the 2022-23 season and a return to the Champions League. Saliba joined Arsenal for a £27m (€31.5m) fee back in 2019 but is yet to feature in a single game for the Gunners and is currently on loan at Marseille.
The France international has been a first team regular for the Ligue 1 giants and has impressed, building well on his other spells at OGC Nice and back at former club St-Etienne, but his future beyond the end of the current season seems uncertain.
Milan have come knocking to see whether Arsenal are prepared to let him leave on loan or permanently but Mikel Arteta has previously suggested that he is willing to evaluate Saliba in the upcoming preseason.
Yeah, maybe if we don’t get Botman.
He has been having a fantastic season in France. I’ve watched at least 6 or 7 Marseille matches this year and he has looked good.
He would be a good backup plan if we don’t get Botman and I think he would prefer to come to Milan and play more minutes than he would get at Arsenal because Gabriel and Ben White are Arsenal’s top 2 CBs and Rob Holding is probably their preferred first backup CB so Saliba likely wouldn’t play much if he joined the team in London.
