Confirmation has arrived from a reliable source that AC Milan are interested in signing Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo, but it will not be easy.
According to MilanNews, Zaniolo is happy to learn of the interest of Milan but Roma – who do not want to strengthen a domestic rival if possible – are asking for €40m to sell the 22-year-old in the summer transfer market.
Both technical director Paolo Maldini and head coach Stefano Pioli approve of signing Zaniolo, who can play either as an attacking midfielder or as a right winger if needed.
Juventus’ interest has been registered in the last few months but the Bianconeri – with the passage of time – have become less and less concrete in their pursuit of the Italy international.
Zaniolo has suffered with repeated long-term injury problems despite his young age, and he managed 2 goals and 2 assists in the league last season for Roma, where he has a deal until 2024.
