CM: Milan could invest in a forward in January amid injury crisis – the identikit

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s injury emergency could force Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to bring forward the investment they were planning in a new forward, a report claims.

Olivier Giroud will be forced to work overtime in the two crucial upcoming fixtures against Dinamo Zagreb and Napoli in the Champions League and Serie A respectively, as the prolonged absences of Divock Origi and Ante Rebic plus the disqualification of Rafael Leao on Sunday means there are very few options.

Calciomercato.com report that Milan are currently using conservative therapy to avoid a hernia operation for Rebic, but Origi on the other hand will fly to Belgium to see his national team doctors to try to cure a tendon problem.

Massara and Maldini will thus be forced to try and bring forward by six months the investment they were planning on a new attacking player. The identikit is as follows: an under 25 player who knows how to play both as a centre-forward but also as a winger if needed too.

  1. It should hopefully be too late by January, if Rebic, Origi are recovered. Though equally I can see them going to the WC unfit and coming back in a worse state…

  2. either bring a pure striker for the long run or dont bother at all. These half winger halft striker never work. Beto might be a solid option

    1. Blind Maldini will never go for a player like beto.
For the past 2 seasons me and my brother have been shouting and wondering how even caprari, lasagna, simeone, scamacca and belotti was allowed to go. Just look at this rubbish. We have needed a RW for 3 seasons now. Yet nothing. I don’t blame maldini for origi injuries, it was a gamble that could’ve gone both ways, but you should’ve kept Colombo. I feel sad for rebic, I can’t even ask the club to sell him cos I know how good he is, when fit. He’s done so much for us. But still, bring lazetic or Colombo to back up these old/unfit strikers. Just look at this rubbish, so so annoying

      1. Couldn’t agree with you more. My initial doubts were can Origi score enough…now it’s can Origi get fit!!!! Money is an issue as we know and that’s why Scamacca was never going to arrive but despite all the Belotti haters I’d have took him over Origi. I’m just not sure what Origi is other than a good forward player…he doesn’t (thus far) and never has shown the goal return that Milan need
