CM: Milan ask about €40m Sassuolo midfielder – why Roma have an advantage

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of the clubs who have expressed an interest in signing midfielder Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com recall how Frattesi moved to Sassuolo as part of the operation that brought Lorenzo Pellegrini back to Roma but now he feels ready to make the jump back to a big club in Italy after an impressive season with 4 goals and 3 assists in the league.

He is now part of the national team under head coach Roberto Mancini, and the report mentions that Inter, Milan and Juventus have followed him and have asked for information in recent times, but it is Roma that might hold an advantage.

The Giallorossi can benefit from having a resale clause that was inserted at the time of his move to Reggio Emilia entitling them to 30% of the proceeds of any future resale, which essentially functions as a 30% discount on any transfer fee.

Sassuolo would once again be open to accepting counterparts meanwhile, which Roma may need to use in order to match the €40m valuation, so Milan and their two rivals have slipped behind in the race.

  1. If sassoulo player worth this price, why they finish rank 11? Scamacca 40m euro, frattesi 40m euro ,raspadori 30m euro,Traore 30m euro ,Berardi 30m euro . Why they only finish rank 11 serie A with this high price player?

  2. Frattesi for 40m ???, I think we got the player valuations wrong in that other article, instead of Milan having a squad value of 522m it seems like it is sassoulo that has that value, people wonder why Milan look abroad for their players when average Italian players in average Italian teams are 40m each.
13m for Maignan, 20m for Theo and 28m Tomori and 40m for Frattesi??? makes no sense at all

  3. Small clubs like Sassuolo are really hurting Serie A. Sure, they develop talent but they are holding above average players ransom for absurd prices. This hurts the big Italian teams. Look at the Locatelli saga last year with Juve. They think all their players are 40 million + and they drag out every negotiation. Just ridiculous.

    1. I agree, if Sassuolo, Torino etc. believe in their players this much they either need to invest in building around them or sell on with protective clauses (% of next sale, goal and game bonuses and so forth). I’m very concerned with watching players get their development stunted by teams like Torino who want huge fees for unproven players.
