CM: Milan and Juventus watch on as Kudus leads Ghana to memorable win

By Oliver Fisher -

Mohammed Kudus was the start of the show for Ghana again as they took a big step towards reaching the last 16 of the World Cup with a 3-2 win over South Korea, and AC Milan were watching closely.

Calciomercato.com write that the brace scored by Kudus against South Korea not only helped the Black Stars in their bid to reach the knockout stages but it also showcased the talent of the Ajax sensation who is gaining more and more admirers with each game.

Kudus was born in Nima, a neighbourhood in Accra, the capital of Ghana where he was raised by his mother and grandmother, playing football in his spare time. Tom Vernon, who was then a Manchester United scout in Africa and founded the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, recruited Kudus at the age of 12.

Over the years, Right to Dream signed various collaboration contracts and among these the one with Nordsjaelland stands out. Kudus made the leap to Europe with the Danish club in 2018 and it was with them that he moved from striker to mezzala, attracting the interest of many scouts.

In 2020 Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City also wanted him, but it was Ajax who won the race to sign him, investing €9m to bring him to Amsterdam. This year Kudus has played as a false nine, an attacking midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder, racking up 10 goals and 2 assists in 21 games.

Milan and Juventus have their eyes on him and are following him at the World Cups. However, today’s brace against South Korea will not help the Italian clubs because Ajax’s valuation is rocketing.
