GdS: Two key battles that will set the tone in crucial Milan vs. Juventus clash

By Oliver Fisher -

The game between AC Milan and Juventus tonight at San Siro will have lots of fascinating sub-plots, including some fantastic individual player battles.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) have published various bits of analysis on the game and the paper focuses on the duels and battles that will take place on the pitch in the crucial match scheduled for 20:45 CET.

The two they pick out in particular are Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s fierce showdown with a defender he has faced many times in his career in Giorgio Chiellini. If the Swede is to break his San Siro scoring drought – which stretches back to September – he will have to get the better of his former team-mates.

Meanwhile, in the midfielder there will be a ‘derby’ between Sandro Tonali and Manuel Locatelli. The former is a boyhood Milan fan who joined permanently in the summer and is widely regarded as Italy’s best young midfield prospect, while the latter spent many years with the Rossoneri after coming through the academy but is now in Turin. He of course scored a memorable winner against the Bianconeri back in the 2016-17 season.
