CM: Milan tried to sign full-back who is starring for Burkina Faso as Man City smile

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of the teams who took an interest in the exploits of defender Issa Kaboré who is now shining at the African Cup of Nations, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com reports how Kaboré has been undoubtedly the best full-back at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with Burkina Faso, the nation that will today play Koulibaly and Mané’s Senegal looking for a place in the final for the first time since 2013.

There 20-year-old Kabore has shown himself to be technically very gifted bombing up and down the right flank, destined for a career as a protagonist. Manchester City noticed his qualities and could decide to bring him into the fold, given he is on loan with French club Troyes for the season from the Premier League champions.

However, Joao Cancelo is ahead of him in the pecking order and yesterday he renewed his contract until until 2027. Kabore was signed by City in 2020 from Mechelen, but he also spoke with Milan before accepting the offer from Manchester.

Kaboré was first left on loan in Belgium, then this year sent to Troyes – a club that is part of the City Group – who returned to Ligue 1 after three years.
