CorSera: Milan ready ‘last-minute attempt’ to snatch Berta from Arsenal – the situation

There could yet be a surprise twist in the sporting director pursuit for AC Milan as they have not given up on the idea of hiring Andrea Berta.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanPress) speaks of ‘high tension’ at Milan. In the event of a defeat today in Lecce, Sergio Conceicao could have his hours numbered and yet another shock could split the environment in two again, or in four this time.

The meeting between CEO Giorgio Furlani and owner Gerry Cardinale in New York had as its principle that of planning the new 2025-26 season, with the knowledge that this time zero mistakes will be permitted.

The first thing to do is choose the sporting director, which not too long ago seemed like a position that would be filled with another ‘collegial’ profile but now looks increasingly likely to be a figure with authority.

The paper states that Milan have not yet given up on Berta, formerly of Atletico Madrid. He has well-established contacts with Arsenal but so far nothing has been signed, so a ‘last-minute attempt’ is ready because the leadership believe he is the ‘perfect candidate’.

Unfortunately for Milan, however, it is a very complicated pursuit, and Igli Tare remains in pole position with Fabio Paratici behind him.

  1. This is a bit more like it. A seasoned figure and an Italian. American ownership is one thing but ACM needs more native individuals onboard – in the boardroom and also on the field. Its the Italian way.

  2. If the rumors about Allegri is true then Berta would be the best candidate for Milan Sporting Director because Allegri has a similar style in tactics and like for the similar players that Simeone likes at Atletico Madrid.

  3. He’s likely going to Arsenal, we will likely get Tare.

If they really wanted Berta , then just like player signings we should go for our first choice decisively rather than always late to the party

    1. They are running his profile in the moneyball module for conformation…. probably we will be in Seria B when they get the results

  4. i still sceptic whoever will come while the only criteria is anyone who can work in short budget (a yes man), u can have Galliani, Marotta & Paratici combain w/ current transfer cap, we’ll go nowhere
