AC Milan have made a late enquiry about the potential signing of Bryan Cristante from AS Roma, according to one journalist.
In these last few hours of the window, Milan are trying to resolve the midfield issue and mostly because Ismael Bennacer is pushing to move to Olympique Marseille than for other reasons. The management would only let him go if they have a replacement lined up, it has emerged.

According to Orazio Accomando of DAZN, Milan and Fiorentina have asked Roma for information on Cristante, a midfielder who is now outside of the Giallorossi starting line-up and spent time in the Rossoneri’s youth sector.
He would return to Milanello to fill the void left by Bennacer’s departure, while La Viola are considering him as an alternative to Nicola Fagioli, who could leave Juventus before the window shuts.
The 29-year-old Cristiante was at Milan from 2009 when he was 14 years of age and he left in 2014 for Benfica. Since then he has played for Palermo, Pescara and Atalanta before ending up at Roma.
An Italy international, he has played over 40 games for his country and because of the above he would tick boxes with regards to the squad list regulations on home-grown players.
Bring him back, he can do the job we need him to do

It feels like it’s been forever since he left Milan for Benfica.
I would absolutely take him over Bondo or Bennacer this late into the market.
BTW if Milan manages to get the deals for Sottil and a midfielder across the line before midnight, how many of these 5 new players can be added to the UCL list?

They dropped the cup tie rule a few seasons ago. Fairly sure.
I presume Cristante could take Calabria’s place on the academy trained list. We still have 2 more of those vacant as Gabbia is the only other to qualify as over 23/academy trained.

Sportiello, Florenzi, Terracciano and unused.

Although it is not a “flashy” name, but I cannit be disappointed with his signing, because Milan need homegrown slot to be filled with Calabria leaving. He should be a decent backip for our MF

I’m not a huge fan of Cristante. He’s a backup player. But I guess we need some Italians to meet the quota and since we aren’t getting Ricci now – Cristante can be a 6 month stop gap – and hopefully we spend the $$ to get Ricci in the summer.
I would rather wait to sell Benny in summer when the Arab clubs may come into play with big $$ offers then sell him now to France for a lower cost. Cristante isn’t really an upgrade
He is more defensive and is our youth product which is good. However Cristiante is past his prime. I don’t expect for him to be a starter. Few years ago he would have been a good signing, now so so.
I like Benacer but the manner he wants to leave d club is not nice at all. Even if you have issue with the coach ,does he
Have issues with fans ? How can he push Milan to sell him 10m when he is far more than that. The most annoying part is that it’s even an option to buy. That’s not nice at all.
Concesaao too needs to take it easy. How does he want to manage these boys when the entire team is having issues with him ?
