AC Milan and Lazio are in the process of finalising a deal for Mario Gila, according to a report from Spain.

Over the past few days, speculation has intensified regarding the possibility of Milan landing Gila, who Igli Tare signed for Lazio when he was the sporting director there. His deal expires in 2027, with seemingly no chance of a renewal in the capital.

Handshakes soon?

According to Diario AS, Milan and Lazio are finalising a deal worth €20m for the central defender, one that would go through in the summer mercato rather than the current January transfer window.

Gila is one of the most sought-after players in the league, and the Milan directors are convinced by the investment. The operation seems to be quite advanced, with Lazio resigned to losing a player who will not renew.

The transfer would also have repercussions for Real Madrid, who have a 50% resale clause. In other words, Los Blancos would receive a windfall of €10m for the player they developed at La Fábrica (Real Madrid’s youth academy) and even gave his first-team debut.

The 25-year-old went to Lazio from there when Tare was director in a €6m deal, and his current value is around €30m. Even so, the fact that his contract enters its final year this summer will lower the transfer fee for the Rossoneri.

It’s not the only offer Gila has on the table, although it is ‘one of the most enticing due to the prestige of a club like AC Milan’, the report concludes. The negotiation is similar to the one that brought Samuele Ricci from Torino, with the operation believed to have been wrapped up months before.

      1. Alexis getting injured and the entire right side is done… Athekame is a prospect not a sub… Estupinan at least has minutes on him, Athekame has 4-5 minute appereances

        1. Also it will be a good opportunity for Athekame to step up. Hes 21 . 21yrs olds can start for Milan.
But they need to step up and we will see

          1. not about age but readiness… if he had it in him Allegri would have used him. like he did with Ricci-Jashari vs Lecce and similar low level team games

heck, Barte is a starter (deservedly so but still)

a RB that can also potentially cover LB would stabilize our fullbacks. Athekame can stay but him and Estupinan being the only subs is dangerous (since both are shaky)

        1. Gila it’s CB position bro.. please sell estupidass, he only have passing errors entire of game. Alex Jimenez I think would nev3r come back to Milan. Milan squad are tiny. Allegri should recall the loanee..

  1. If this goes through, it’s another great move from Tare to act sooner and pay a little more (still below market value), rather than later and lose to Inter

  2. Solid defender, good ball carrier, lots of useful vertical passes. Really good signing. We’re fine till the summer

  3. He is definitely a plus especially if we play mid week next season. We really need help at second string wingback role truth be told. We have a youngster but we also need a proven player.

  4. I know that this he still has a little less than 18 month on his contract, but I don’t see Milan would part with 20 million to buy a player that won’t be playing immediately, when they need a push for the scudetto.

    1. I mean, it’s either they will get him now for 20 or 30 as his market value or they will wait for the summer when the contract 12 months left.
