GdS: Milan let down by their leaders in damaging draw against Salernitana

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan showed one of the worst versions of themselves as they dropped valuable points on the road against bottom-placed side Salernitana.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how it was the leaders of the team who struggled the most during the 2-2 draw from Maignan to Giroud, passing through Tomori, Leao and Diaz, and even Tonali.

The French goalkeeper has a reputation as being unafraid to come off his line and challenge for loose balls but it would cost him late in the first half when Bonazzoli equalised. Then Kessie lost his man as Djuric headed home to make it 2-1.

Brahim Diaz seemed to be recovering, but at the Arechi Stadium he took a couple of steps backwards, while even Tonali was unable to get control in the middle of the field like he usually does. Leao was neutralised just about and looked more tired than usual, while Giroud is still waiting for a goal away from San Siro.

The leaders that should have dragged the team along the wave of the enthusiasm in the currently moment suddenly jammed.
