Milan-linked Motta remains coy on his future: “You’ll know when there’s news”

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan-linked coach Thiago Motta is keeping his card close to his chest when it comes to his future by claiming that he has no news for the press right now.

Speaking during his press conference ahead of Bologna’s very important match against Napoli (via Pianeta Milan), the Italian coach refused to fuel rumours linking him with jobs like Milan and Juventus.

Motta has done an extremely good job at Bologna this season and he has them on the brink of qualification for the Champions League in fourth place which would be an immense achievement.

Naturally, Motta was asked about where he will end up next season, with Chelsea even being linked with the Italian, but he batted away the question and kept his focus on the rest of the season.

“There’s no news from my side, you’ll know when there is news. We head to Napoli,” Motta said.

Milan are linked with a whole host of names for the managerial job and Motta is certainly one of the favourites.

A fellow Italian, Roberto De Zerbi, is another option, whilst there are two Portuguese options in the shape of Sergio Conceicao and Paulo Fonseca, currently employed at FC Porto and Lille respectively.

It will take some time for Milan to land on the right candidate.

  1. Motta is the best in the candidates list so far but it doesn’t seem like the management is interested in him.

Maybe waiting till the end of the season will bring more candidates like Erik Ten Hag or Enzo Maresca

  2. The zemi finals europa league was gasperini and de rossi. And the final was gasperini and xabi alonso. Capello tell the truth about gasperini which is he can take the important job like milan. And dont forget, finale champion league was ancelotti there !! How great italian coaches. I said this is the real Italian Job. So milan must go for Gasperini. I guess…
