Tuttosport: Milan looking to sign ‘more advantageous’ Belahyane over Frendrup

Signing a midfield has seemed increasingly likely for AC Milan as the season has progressed, and it seems the club have a preferred target.

News about Milan’s interest in Reda Belahyane has only emerged in the past few days, but it seems the Rossoneri have made the Moroccan their favourite choice for the winter mercato. Since joining Hellas Verona, the midfielder has quickly adjusted to Serie A life, and the club now believe he is ready for the step-up.

He is by no means a new name for the Rossoneri’s scouting department, and Geoffrey Moncada has been keeping an eye on the player since his time at Nice. However, there was no move made for the French-born talent in the past.

After his start to the Serie A season, Verona have slapped an €8-10 million price tag on the midfielder, which is one of the big reasons behind the Diavolo’s interest, as reported earlier today. Morten Frendrup would cost around double that price tag, and as Tuttosport (via Milan News) write, there could be registration issues with the Genoa midfielder.

Given Belahyane is only 20, there would be no need to worry about the registration rules until he is 22, which is another huge benefit in the club’s eyes. For these reasons it seems Milan will look to bring the midfielder to the club in the early stages of January as they are keen to bolster Paulo Fonseca’s midfield.

      1. We’re talking about DMs. The best DM in history, Rijkaard, was a big man, the same with Desailly. Gattuso wasn’t small either.

  1. I’d strongly consider Malaspina as DM deputy in a year from now given how easily he adopts to the next level (he wasnt part of the futuro in the beginning of the season and is a starter now; same last year with the primavera); we also have Sala in the Primavera (maybe even Perin), who will be there in 2-3 years. therefore i see absolutely no need in signing a young talent, but rather take an experienced Italian for 1-2 seasons for the short term. Jorginho could be perfect – he could lead the team against weaker teams when Fofana can take a rest, but also has the quality to replace Fofana in case of injury. at the same time he is already old enough to accept not being 1st choice. (not playing much at Arsenal anyway)

  2. Still feeding us with same old bs. He’s a cheaper talent that can potentially bring in higher capital gain. That’s it. The RedTurds business plan.

    1. I understand the narrative, but there hasn’t been any player sold that fit that exact narrative, except for Tonali that reinvest on three players. Cut it out, you don’t like the sound you’d make.

      1. No, the narrative here is, they’re not buying players we actually need to win something because they cost more than what they’re willing to spend. Which is anything above 20 millions.

And there are still many players who RedBird bought and turned out a bust. I probably don’t need to list them do I?

  3. why don’t we want to buy Cesar Araujo, he is a DM who acts as a deep playmaker… his contract with Orlando ends this December. try to see him play, for me, he is worth it if we can get him

  4. He is just a substitute for Bennacer, nothing more, and a mediocre one, and Bennacer will leave at the end of this season, even though they need a more expirienced midfielder and a centre back, that should be a priority for now.
