CM: Mendes factor and Man Utd offer – Milan curious about entering Nunez race

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan fans have begun to dream about the potential of signing a big name striker given the rumours of an imminent takeover, and Darwin Nunez’s name has been mentioned.

Calciomercato.com report that Elliott Management appear poised to sell Milan to the Bahrain-based Investcorp fund and while any business depends on how the new owner will work on the market, there is no doubting that a centre-forward of the future is eventually needed.

Sven Botman and Divock Origi will be the first new signings as Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will conclude the operations despite the transfer in ownership to Investcorp, but the idea remains to make a big signing in attack, a striker that can unleash the excitement of the fans.

Darwin Nunez seems the ideal name but Benfica are already anticipating an auction thanks to the work of his new agent Jorge Mendes who is talking about it with several Premier League clubs. Manchester United are pressing and want to offer around €75m to sign him, so Milan will have to wait and see if they can enter the race.

The good relations between Maldini and Mendes could favour the opening of a real negotiation especially given that the Rossoneri wanted him two years ago when at Almeria. At the moment the Uruguayan remains a suggestion, but things could change.

  1. Spending big money isn’t Milan tradition, I don’t want Milan as city or psg, and more appreciate tim like ajax or Atalanta..
With 75M we can get cdk and berardi
