Mediaset: Milan begin testing ground over Arsenal man as low cost alternative to Botman and Bremer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have begun to probe the ground over an alternative to both Sven Botman and Gleison Bremer, according to a report.

The asking price for Botman continues to rise amid strong interest from Newcastle United who can can offer more in terms of transfer fee, while for Bremer there is the competition of both Inter and clubs abroad to land the Brazilian.

Milan still need to sign a new centre-back though with Alessio Romagnoli heading towards an exit given his contract expires at the end of the month, and SportMediaset (via MilanNews) are claiming that another track is being probed.

Milan have begun to test the ground for Pablo Marì, a 28-year-old Arsenal defender who was on loan at Udinese during the second half of last season. Marì is of interest to the Diavolo as an alternative to Botman and Bremer: if the latter two became out of reach then the Brazilian would be a ‘low cost’ option thus allowing funds to be diverted elsewhere.

  1. If money is the problem, then the easiest solution is to renew Romagnoli for 3.5 – 4 m. We would then get a known quality depth.

  2. Lol is this for real? Why exactly are we not giving Romagnoli a good contract and renewing?? He’s good, been a great professional and he helps with squad limits since we need italians. This has become outrageous

  3. Not sure why everyone keeps suggesting to just renew Romagnoli. He may not want to be a backup player and choose not to renew. We don’t know but throwing money at him may or may not make it happen so don’t just assume it is a simple operation.
