For Leao, it was another strange season. Although he racked up 25 goal contributions in 50 games (12 goals, 13 assists) which is far from a bad return, he lost his starting spot at various points in the campaign.
In addition to that, he didn’t look any closer to breaching the 20-goal marker that so many are desperate for him to. The Portuguese also went an entire league season without a goal at San Siro, something unthinkable for a player of his quality.
Leao: A meeting for the future
Are there concerns about the situation surrounding Leao? Today’s Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress) reports that there will be a meeting between his entourage and the Milan management at the headquarters.
According to the newspaper, it is not impossible that the winger could decide to change clubs after six seasons. The initial request from the Rossoneri for his sale is €130m, but after a disappointing season there shouldn’t be many clubs – except the Saudi ones – who want to risk such a huge expense.
Milan, for their part, do not want to lose the former Lille man given the probability of having to part with many other top players like Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez.
As a reminder, there has been speculation that Arsenal held discussions over a possible deal for Leao, while Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also believed to have tested the waters.
