SM: Milan management make their call on Messias – his future is now almost certain

By Oliver Fisher -

Junior Messias is the man that Paolo Maldini and Ferederic Massara chose to bet on late in the summer window, but his stay at AC Milan appears likely to last only one season.

The Brazilian winger arrived on loan from Crotone with an option to buy and thus achieve his dream of playing for a great club, even managing to score big goals like the decisive one against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

However, Messias’ contribution to the Rossoneri has been somewhat inconsistent and for this reason the Rossoneri management almost certainly will not buy him from Crotone permanently for the previously agreed sum of €5m, as our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report.

A return to Calabria is expected for the 30-year-old, while Milan will focus on already established profiles for that role. Messias, however, continues to be a starter in Stefano Pioli’s plans as in recent weeks he has been preferred to Alexis Saelemaekers.

He has not been able to take full advantage of the opportunities though and now is enduring a scoring drought, therefore next summer it is unlikely that he will return to Milanello.

  1. Yes, Milan is not scoring and it’s the fault of Messias Jr.

He played 45mins in the last game and was subbed off at halftime. What did his replacement do? What about the others who started in attack with him and played 98mins?

When a coach lacks ability to switch tactics when your previous game plan has been neutralised by opponents, you start looking for scapegoats among the players.

    1. What are you his brother? Boyfriend? He played bad, obviously, I didn’t see the coach doing anything to him, only a news article. So, you are telling us that Pioli is to blame for Messias not being able to go past a player, take a proper cross or a shot while playing at RW for AC Milan against Bologna? :DDDDD

    2. Messias is a flop and should be ashamed of his failure. He came from a lower club and should have done everything in his capacity to prove his stay
At least doing double training on his own with the aim of achieving this success but instead he was relax growing big stomach
Meanwhile Rebic is far better than Messias
      He’s already an established player

      1. Man, he’s 30 and was brought last second when Berrardi deal had collapsed. No one expected from him to be a star.
He did scored a few important goals though.
Yes, obviously I agree that we don’t need to buy him but don’t call him flop as no one had any expectations.
BTW, I won’t be surprised if next season he will play in Seria A

      2. And you think Rebic is any better? Man can’t properly go pass an opponent without flopping. Scores once in a blue moon, injury prone and lacks striker instincts. Wakeup bro

      3. No shame or ashamed! This is football! Some transfers do not work! Did Eden Hazard answer at Real Madrid?
And maybe the management must think more about what they did last summer and Mr. X saga! And dedicating Chalhan to Inter for free; and …!

      4. “Doing double training on his own”. Wow you reached new level of stupidity. Congrats. If you ever done any training you should know that you need rest.Doing more training than needed doesn’t give any additional benefit and can lead to injuries.

And why would he be ashamed ? He brought us only victory in CL , he scored 4-5 goals while his competition on that position didn’t do that in 2 seasons combined.

      5. Rebic is crap, he’s overrated which is why Man Utd didn’t make the move for him when they were scouting him. Rebic, Messias, Saelemaekers, Diaz should all be moved on.

  2. All players have bad days he played well beginning of the season it’s not always easy for a player to be in form.. he will still play in sdrie A next season and he will hunt us down

  3. The only players in our attack who should stay would be Leao and Giroud, the rest should all be moved on. We need a complete overhaul in that department.
