CM: Milan hold new talks over Renato Sanches deal amid €15m agreement – Maldini’s position

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan still believe that they can eventually get the signing of Renato Sanches over the line despite the current difficulties, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are still firm in their conviction to focus on Renato Sanches as he is the man who has been picked as Franck Kessié’s replacement. The negotiations have been going on for months and there was a draft agreement in place, but the competition from PSG has complicated things.

The preference of the player is to move to Paris because he is enthusiastic about the idea of reuniting with head coach Christophe Galtier and sporting director Luis Campos, who held those same roles at Lille during their 2020-21 Ligue 1 title win.

However, Milan have an agreement with Lille on the basis of a €15m transfer fee with bonuses included. The position of Maldini is that he wants to try until the end to get the Portugal international and on Monday he spoke with agent Jorge Mendes, who left the door slightly open.

PSG at the moment are not moving, but Sanches continues to wait for a call from them while also aware that he will not be able to stall indefinitely because he needs a new club this summer. Milan meanwhile moved concretely and showed how much he wants them.

  1. Yes. We are now officially Leeds.

I hope we are not facing the last month of August, having spent all our time chasing players we cannot get, for some reason or other.

  2. I get the feeling its about more money and PSG are not even remotely interested. There is an agreement in place that and no other clubs are challenging. Renato has had an up and down career so far, would be wise to think very carefully. Remember Swansea?

  3. Maldini help Milan help Milan help Milan with Renato Sanchez like done signing Charles. if you signing Renato Sanchez like returned seedof Maldini help fans please

    1. Because at that price and quality of the player there’s nothing else out there. Can you suggest who we should go after?

  4. Milan should be pay the dude, the dude wants to come to Milan, he even posted some stuff on Twitter about his desire to play for Milan but Milan will always act childish at transfer as always…….3.2m as salary is too small for Sanchez, PSG is offering 4.5m and other bonuses, so why won’t he wait. Milan are always disgracing themselves by always making it hard for players and clubs to negotiate with them, look at CDK, after all the Wasted, we still paid the 35m requested.

Sanchez is a very good midfeilder and for some of you here crying “let’s move on”, ease get back to your playstation, we need Sanchez more than be needs us….PSG just wanna offload players before they bring him and that will happen sooner than later so Maldini knows why he is still initiating contact till now because if we miss out on him then be ready of another bakayoko, krunic double pivot and you all know what it means

    1. R. Sanches is certainly a good player but the ‘snag’ is that he doesn’t want to play for Milan (well, say, he might come if he has no other choice). It’s a hard fact.
The sooner we accept it, the better. As simple as that.

    2. @Kossy well said. Pay him he’s worth it. Can’t find anyone else for that fee. He will gladly come if we up his salary.

  5. People must understand something very simple but also very important: football players nowadays, with some unavoidable and of course regrettable but nevertheless very few exceptions, behave on a strict professional fashion.

So Renato Sanches main choice would be a move to PSG? Ok, fine, that doesn’t by any means that he will not behave properly, with dedication and full commitment, if he eventually ended with us. And the same applies for CDK, for instance, if Club Brugge eventually would have managed to convince him to join Leeds.

In short: if in the end we sign Sanches, the normal expectation is that he will do good with us, behaving in a professional way.
