Daily Mail: Milan among four clubs targeting Newcastle star on expiring contract

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of the clubs who have registered an interest in signing Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar, a report from England has claimed.

The Daily Mail believe that Newcastle have a fight on their hands to keep Schar as his contract enters its final few months given that he is now free to sign a pre-contract with a club from abroad and a few teams have stepped forward to express an interest.

The 30-year-old is a target for Napoli who wanted him during the January window, but Milan are also eyeing him as an experienced option for their rearguard as are Spanish sides Seville and Valencia.

A number of Premier League sides also want him, but Newcastle boss Eddie Howe still considers Schar central to his plans, while the Swiss international is keen to renew his deal and be one of the leaders of Newcastle’s new era.
