AC Milan are in the process of hiring a sporting director, and a decision was expected around Easter. However, the club have not yet made a decision.
The past months have been dominated by talk about a sporting director arriving at the club this summer, and there was hope that a decision would be made sooner rather than later, so the club could prepare for the mercato. However, this is not the case.
Initial suggestions were that the move would be made around the Easter period. But, it appears that we are going to be left waiting a while longer yet, as Corriere della Sera reports, via Milan News, that the club are still to decide on a primary candidate.
Igli Tare seems to be the obvious choice, given that he is unattached and is already creating plans for the future. However, Giorgio Furlani is refusing to give up on Tony D’Amico, who is without a doubt his favourite candidate.
Tempting with a move away from Atalanta is proving to be difficult currently, though, so it seems like the wait is more forced than anything.
It is a decision which could heavily backfire if the club are left red-faced, but there has to be some credit given for the persistence on display.
No surprise that no-one wants to come to this disaster..
A MILAN CEO begging for an Atalanta executive to come join oh how far we’ve fallen.
SD’s usually stays at a club for 10-15 years unless things do not go well. Atalanta have been doing very well, I really do not see why D’Amico would give up his current project to start a new one at this mess of a club Milan. He has only been working at Atalanta for over two years and he still has a lot to offer the club. This midget CEO always chooses to follow the wrong and unlikely candidates. First Paratici and now D’Amico. Well one this for sure is he has been wasting a lot of valuable time.
Probably around mid July we will have a SD giving him enough time of 15 days to construct a winning machine with the help of the calculator algorithm. Bright future ahead
July 20th, to be precise. The day that Paratici’s suspension ends. All the blah blah blah about bringing someone in to start work ASAP is hot air.
Anything to make excuses for delays in order to not make any adequa/adequate free agent acquisitions. Another summer without a coach, remain with an incomplete squad so it is impossible to prepare a summer adequately and come to training camp, starting the season ready to go.
Not one summer with Redbird has been organized, decisive, ambitious, authoritative and successful. The message is always: let’s try to get the most out of less than the bare minimum, at the last minute and cross our fingers for results on the field, all to be certain we succeed in our pursuit to lift the Golden Sachs trophy for shareholders.
Who cares about a Scudetto, that isn’t a viable ambition nor part of our organizational identity.
Summarizes Furlani’s lack of experience and efficiency in this position. Let’s waste time on SD’s under contract at better teams instead of getting the ball rolling and appointing a reasonable option in Tare to get this thing off the ground.
