Tuttosport: Milan not done after De Ketelaere – Spurs defender eyed and a battle with PSG

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan fans will soon be able to celebrate the arrival of Charles De Ketelaere but he will not be the last signing of the summer, a report claims.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how the young Belgian attacking midfielder will – after an endless negotiation – land in Italy today to begin his medical examinations and then sign a five-year contract with the Rossoneri before joining is new team-mates.

However, the Rossoneri’s market is not over yet because they are after reinforcements in two more positions. The first is the centre-back role with Japhet Tanganga of Spurs being targeted on loan with an option to buy. Spurs would like it to be an obligation, but the two clubs are continuing to negotiate.

A central midfielder should also arrive with the number one target still Renato Sanches. Milan have an agreement with Lille while PSG are stalling, so Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara remain at the window waiting for the Portuguese to make a decision.

Sanches would reunite with Luis Campos and Christophe Galtier at PSG, who were the sporting director and head coach at Lille when they won the league. The alternative for Milan is Carney Chukwuemeka of Aston Villa, who you can read all about here.

  1. First of all, I’d like to apologize for my previous posts as it was misleading regarding Bennacer’s homegrown status. I miscalculated Bennacer’s age, he was 20 years old (based on birth year) when he first play in Italy, not 19 years old as I thought, so he is not association homegrown. It means Milan’s non-homegrown issue is worse than I thought… the non-homegrown quantity exceed the limit by 4 players, not just 3…

Here is the updated homegrown status of first team (after the arrival of De Ketelaere):
    • Club Homegrown (3/4)
    Calabria, Gabbia, & Pobega
    • Association Homegrown (3/4)
    Mirante, Florenzi, & Tonali
    • Non-Homegrown (21/17)
Maignan, Tatarusanu, Theo, Balo-Toure, Tomori, Kalulu, Kjaer, Bennacer, Krunic, Bakayoko, Adli, Brahim, De Ketelaere, Messias, Saelemaekers, Leao, Rebic, Origi, Ibrahimovic, Giroud, & Lazetic

Nb: even though De Ketelaere and Lazetic are U21, they can’t be registered using B-list as they have not been in the club for 2 full seasons.

    1. Secondly, I’d like to encourage you all not to treat transfer rumours from media as gospel, a lot of them are just made up to generate income from Milanisti. Do no treat them as if they are Maldini’s own word, they are not spokeperson of Maldini. In the media effor to hype up those transfer rumours, they inadvertently put wedge between Milanisti and Milan as they drive unrealistic expectation for transfer such as signing 3 more non-homegrown players after CDK.

Looking at the mercato, instead of listening to so called “transfer expert”, we should listen to Maldini himself:
      • Maldini: “Kalulu has become a serious player. So why do I have to spend money to get one?” (via Ambrosini, 14/03/2022)
      • Maldini: “Botman? We have followed him, but there are many good players in that role.” (via GdS, 27/05/2022)
      • Maldini: “With two or three important signings and the consolidation of the players we have, we can compete for something bigger in the Champions League.” (via GdS, 27/05/2022)

Based on the first 2 points alone, we should have know that the interest in Botman was past interest during last winter mercato (note the past tense), yet the media incessantly push Botman this summer.

Maldini said 2-3 important signings, and we already get 2 of them: Origi and De Ketelaere. So if another important signing arrive, it will likely only 1, not 3 like the media claim (CB, DM, & RW). Maldini want 2-3 addition and consolidation, not overhaul!

Some of you claim Maldini is not concerned with homegrown status because the media do not say Maldini is concerned. Of course the media rarely mention it, if they publish article regarding the homegrown issue, Milanisti will realise that the rumours they write for more non-homegrown players addition are mostly rubbish.

      1. Lastly, I think the 4 most sensible options for Milan so they do not marginalize any player by excluding some of them from UCL squad are:
        1. Keep Lazetic in Ibrahimovic’s slot before loan him out after Ibrahimovic return
        2. Return Bakayoko to Chelsea
        3. Return Brahim to Madrid
        4. Sign an association homegrown (Italy-trained) player to replace one of the non-homegrown player.

Signing another non-homegrown is not sensible at all unless it is in the form of sign and loan like Milan did to Adli last year.

        1. Dude no offense but you need to get a day job or something lol. Your obsessed with the player registration. Relax man, M&M I’m sure already know and will figure out who needs to stay and who needs to go. Love the passion but you need to chill a little my friend. All will be ok.

    2. You are thinking too hard bro . For register CL you can replace tata with mirante & third GK will be academy player. Bakayoko out ( return to chelsea),ibra out ( injury),lazetic out ( loan ) . Thats already 4 : Tata, lazetic, ibra, bakayoko. If they buy ndicka or diallo then ballo toure out since both of them can play LB. If they want to register ibra? Just replace lord saladmaker since RW are overload

        1. Because Tata is non-homegrown. Milan can only register 17 non-homegrown in UCL.

Mirante is safe as he one of the only three who can occupay 4 association homegrown slot.

      1. That is not going to work. The team cohesion will be damaged as Tata and Saelemaekers will be marginalized and disrespected espefially as both of them play a part in the scudetto.

Thinking hard? Milanisti who keep insisting Milan to keep buying multiple non-homegrown players are not thinking enough. They just want buying for the sake of buying, not understanding the difficult position of the club and the dilemma of the management. If they think a little, they would have know that they are being brainwashed by the media and that the pressure they give in the mercato is unrealistic.

  2. Bakayoko and bakyoko will not be registered. Milan might sign another italian young prospect, or probably bring in ex-milan academy player which is more logical. Probably they’ll promote Stanga or Coubis.
