AC Milan are very much aware that Alex Jimenez could already move back to Real Madrid, but a new hope has emerged this afternoon.
The Spaniard has progressed massively in the past 18 months, and Milan see the defender as a key part of their future. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been very vocal in his backing of the talent, and with his versatility, he has the range to be a stalwart for years to come.
However, this has a negative side – Real are continuing to keep an eye on the defender because of his sharp rise.
In fact, Marca (via Milan News) report that the Spaniard ‘convinced’ the club during his first year and this year he is continuing to do the same, even if his minutes are slightly more limited than they were last season. Nevertheless, the Spanish club are continuing to observe his progress and are paying ‘close attention’.
Milan have been offered a lifeline in the situation, though. According to the report, Los Blancos’ interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold will play a large part in their plan for Jimenez – if they land the Englishman, there is a chance that their interest in the Rossonero will cease.
That being said, Jimenez’s versatility might be too great of a deal to turn down, so it would not guarantee that Real would look away.
Next summer speak with Real and Jimenez. If there can’t be a permanent solution for Milan tell everyone that you’ll sell him to the highest bidder and Madrid will probably buy him and make some profit on the resale. After they can do whatever they want. Milan shouldn’t develop players for any other club on the planet, don’t care is it Jimenez or Messi. There should be no players with buy back clauses playing at Milan. 0.
Yeah I agree Igor, it’s a bad situation for the club. We need to resolve it before next season.
I hate watching players at Milan that Milan has no ownership or any say in the transfer. It was the same with Diaz.
It’s tricky dealing with Madrid because money isn’t really a concern for them, but let’s give AJ a very charitable €20m price tag. If Madrid gives us €9m to buy him back, and we then buy him outright with no clause for €20m, it’s basically an €11m net transfer from us to them. And in reality even a €15m valuation is generous right now.
If Madrid was a normal club that cared about money, we should be able to buy them out of that clause for €5-7m you’d think.
They make money from sales like that. They sold most of their young players to fund transfers. Around 20M income per season comes from those types of sales. Madrid has been doing this for decades, rememeber Morata, Hakimi. Latest was Rafa Marin to Napoli, this season.
I don’t know why everyone is freaking out, Jimenez is by far not a make or break player on this team, and I’d argue most of his performances show that the team would be better without him. If Real wants him, let them have him.
Because he’s still just 19 years old. He’s younger than Kevin Zeroli, as an example.
