Noah Okafor of AC Milan

CM: ‘Morale at rock bottom’ – Milan’s instruction to Okafor’s agents amid squad list risk

Noah Okafor was on the verge of sealing a move to RB Leipzig a few days ago, and now he is at risk of falling by the wayside at AC Milan.

Okafor’s is certainly one of the most surreal stories in this January window. The Swiss forward even gave a parting message to Milan fans as he arrived at Linate Airport ahead of his flight to Germany to join Leipzig, saying he hoped to see them again soon, and less than 24 hours later he did.

Indeed, Okafor returned from Saxony with ‘his morale at rock bottom’ as per Calciomercato.com because the German club, after evaluating his physical condition, preferred not to complete the operation.

This was met by the annoyance of Milan, who thought they had solved a case also giving the player the chance to play more consistently and potentially also get some cash in the summer. Now his future is back in the air prospects are not encouraging.

Milan have instructed Okafor’s agents to find a destination abroad with a focus especially on Germany. Giorgio Furlani has also spoken to Adriano Galliani about a move to Monza but Okafor is not convinced about the destination.

The issue is that the Rossoneri will welcome Kyle Walker as a new signing in the coming days and Okafor is the suspect to make room for him on the squad list to be registered, whether he leaves or not. This is why the next few days become crucial for the former Salzburg man.

La Gazzetta dello Sport meanwhile add that Okafor is recovering from a calf injury that he suffered in the Hellas Verona match. Nonetheless, if a new destination is not found by February 3 (closing of the winter transfer window), this could see him left out of both the Serie A and Champions League lists.

  1. He should take a 6 month dry loan to Monza. Can regain fitness and from with regular game time. Maybe keep Monza in serie a. And he doesn’t even need to move house.

  2. Honestly, I don’t get how they treat these guys like trash. How do you just take a player out of the list without batting an eyelid? OK so what happens next season? The squad becomes bloated and some fans start hating on some players for not wanting to leave while claiming they have no ambition for choosing not to go to some second-rate league. Just look at Jovic in 10 minutes showed that he can be useful to this team but somehow a coach comes into a team, looks at a player and declares him unfit for whatever strategy he has in mind.

Pioli at Al Nassr uses a player like Al Ghareeb but if that guy played for Milan during PIoli’s era, he’d have been deemed unfit. With the way our strikers are failing to take their chances, you can’t help but wonder if as terrible as people say Origi is, he won’t be able to bury those chances.

Lastly, for those doting on Concecao as the saviour remember that Fonsy was hated for supposedly throwing his players under the bus in front of the media (exactly what Concecao did, or is doing). I just hope that the judgement can be fair for both coaches. 🙂

  3. Amazing treatment of players. Everyone will jump to join Milan right away, especially younger players and talents. I honestly can’t believe the lack of class by these people, it is like you found the most immoral and classless people on the planet and you let them be in charge of a historical club like Milan. Don’t think Okafor is a player for Milan, but realistically you don’t do this, from a moral side and then after this from the business side. They will what, not register him and expect to get 25M from Leipzig in the summer???

    1. And that is to sign a 34 year old Kyle Walker on a 6 month loan. This is like idiocracy movie but in football. I am starting to think Ibrahimovic is really low IQ in reality.

  4. Put royal out of squad list, why you need 4right back unless you don’t trust walker.

Calabria, terraciano, walker that should be everything you need not royal anymore

  5. He’s a dud. He has a history of injury problems. They knew they were taking a risk. Remember he was given a chance from the start, not as a sub, and blew it. That was his big opportunity.

  6. Milan has the most incompetent management, their treatment of players has been appalling, buying and discarding players like trash, decimating the home grown players, knowing fully well it will affect the squad list both in the league and the UCL, their is no stability or even a clear plan, everything is just madness..

  7. Management is treating a player like trash? He is among the many injured in yet another season with awful fitness condition for the team? Absurd transfer situation that is tied with other players and no one actually did any planning? No way, I refuse to belive such sacrilege.

  8. Just curious why Okafor’s transfer failed this way.

If Milan and RB agreed on the contract, which includes those fine prints about required medical exams, did Milan knew that it would be a problem and they still wanted to give it a shot? Or Milan’s medical team disagree with RB? Or RB changed the clause last minute?

The fact that Milan’s management is not seeking legal disputes says they probably skewered it up.

  9. Milan have change so much for what I remember. Not like the old days. On and off the field. How can they treat players like that. Especially once that haven’t been bad for us. I also think of Kalulu. Once I felt pride to be a Milan fan cause we treated players with respect. Now I feel ashamed.
