AC Milan’s two most expensive signings of the summer window have come under scrutiny, after the over €70m invested in them.
Ardon Jashari and Christopher Nkunku were the headline signings of the mercato for Milan, but so far they have not lived up to expectations, at least in the eyes of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress). As a result, now Milan are thinking about the future.

The plan for the €70m duo
Milan spent over €70m to sign the pair, but thus far they are yet to come close to repaying that investment. Some growing pains were perhaps expected for Jashari given his age and the fact he arrived from the Belgian league, plus he is learning behind Luka Modric too.
Yet, the fact remains that with the Swiss international on the pitch for more than 45 minutes, the Rossoneri have only won one match against Lecce. The others were two draws against Como and Fiorentina, and two defeats against Parma and Lazio.
Despite the difficulties, according to CorSport, the management’s idea is to keep him for another season. This is also given that the fibula injury at the end of August kept him out of action for several months and significantly affected his preparation.
It’s a very different story for Nkunku: so far this season, he’s scored six goals and provided three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. He too hasn’t made the impact hoped for, and the €37m plus bonuses spent last summer now seems like a mistake and a panic buy.
The Frenchman had a few good weeks at the beginning of 2026, but then returned to mediocre performances and Massimiliano Allegri does not seem to see him as a starter in his attack.
At the end of the season, his agent will speak with the Rossoneri management to understand if he will still be in the coach’s plans for next year and to decide on his future. The Rossoneri intend to sign a top striker, which could also affect Nkunku’s future.
The Tare effect. He is slightly better than Furlani, who never did that job before and was horrible. Tare isn’t horrible but still below average.
I think Jashari needs time considering the injury and lack of minutes.
Nkunku never really made sense if you’re playing 3-5-2. OK if Allegri goes to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 he’s good depth as a winger with Europe next year, otherwise an expensive squad player.

I also think it’s worth mentioning in these repetitive articles that half of Nkunku’s total goals came from the penalty spot.
Plus one simple tap-in into an empty net. But the main focus should still be all the matches were he was absolutely MIA. Even ghosts are more visible than he has been in half of the matches.
Jashari is not a problem. He needs minutes and consistency – there’s a lot of talent there. But it’s hard when he’s playing second fiddle to a Ballon D’Or winner and scraps for minutes. He doesn’t fill the Rabiot position and it was Allegri’s mistake to put him in that role VS Lazio.
As for Nkunku…. it’s a mystery as to why he was brought in. A second striker in a team of wingers without the Prima Punta. A team full of bride’s maids and no bride… Well planned by Furlani.
He is s**t. Poor man’s Rovella. Isn’t worth 20M€.
Tonali was plain awful during his first season in Milan. So was Kessie. And they both already knew the league – unlike Jashari. I wouldn’t write him off yet.

Jashari hardly was ever in starting lineup but on the whole played well when he was on the pitch.
