L’Equipe: Milan poised as Renato Sanches issues 48-hour ultimatum to PSG

By Oliver Fisher -

News has arrived from France suggesting that AC Milan’s pursuit of Renato Sanches is far from dead in the water with an ultimatum in play.

Renato Sanches has a contract that expires in June 2023 and he has been linked with a move to Milan since the January transfer window, but competition from Paris Saint-Germain emerged recently and that threatened to scupper any potential deal.

According to Hadrien Grenier of the French newspaper L’Equipe (via MilanLive) though, the Portugal international will accept Milan’s offer within 48 hours if PSG and Lille fail to find an agreement.

The player does not understand why the negotiation between the two French clubs did not develop quickly, given that he had expressed his will to go to Paris, while the Rossoneri management have been insisting on him for some time.

Milan already have an agreement with LOSC at about €15m, so all that remains is to wait for updates within 48 hours regarding the future of the former Benfica and Bayern Munich man.

  1. So we AC Milan are just plan B for him ? We should never sign this mercenary player, let him go to PSG. I will be the first one disappointed if AC Milan sign this player, there is still many good DMF outside

  2. Please don’t sign this guy. I had had high expectation for him but it’s clear now that he’s a mercenary. He even considers us as plan B and might make things difficult for us in future mercatos.

  3. Maldini is acting strangely, players that speaks if their desire to join Milan, he ignores them , but players that tell Milan that he has Milan as plan b, Nairobi waits for such players. This I don’t understand or like.

    1. ACM considers Renato Sanches will be first-choice fast or not. Because explosion performances from Sandro Tonali & pretty stable Ismael Bennacer leave ACM has some doubt about Renato Sanches.
I don’t think Renato Sanches can replace Sandro Tonali immediately.
Don’t forget we have Tommaso Pobega that have good performance past season with Torino.

We don’t want to pay high salary for 4th or 3rd pivot, i think.

  5. Renato expressed his desired to join Milan since January, but Milan kept dragging their feet on d deal. Now, PSG have come into d deal, d press are making us feel d player is putting PSG ahead of us. PSG don’t really need him or have him as first target for d DMF, or they would have taken him since. Milan are d ones dragging this deal, n others, not d players or their clubs

  6. @Chima, in January Sanches was asking for 6 mill per year salaries
I don’t think under any circumstances we’ll offer him more than 4 million per year.

I personally don’t think he’s the right player to have, from the behavior so far he seems like a primadonna that might look like he’s having a great performance but overall he pushes down the team.

I guess one example, probably not the best, is looking at Cristiano Ronaldo when he came to Juventus. He ruined all the internal equilibrium that had existed prior to his arrival, expected everyone to work for him, and that’s it. If the message to other players is give the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo and let him do his thing you’re not challenging them to take more responsability. And when he left, they were worse than what they were before he joined. In a sense, I feel the same way about Sanches. He’ll probably have the highest salary in our midfield and expect things to happen his way. That’s dangerous for teamwork.
