Calciomercato.it recall that Milan are different to the other top sides in Serie A as they are yet to spend a big sum for the purchase of a striker. Juventus for example spent €70m to get their hands on Dusan Vlahovic, while the Rossoneri in contrast signed his compatriot Marko Lazetic for €4m from Red Star.
After a tough first few months, Lazetic is showing his potential now having scored a hat-trick against Atalanta and having scored goals in the Youth League against Dinamo Zagreb and Salzburg. Dutch clubs but also Serie B teams are keen on a loan deal, but Milan would rather keep him around.
A different path was chosen for Marco Nasti and Lorenzo Colombo as both went to gain experience on loan. The former has four appearances with Cosenza in Serie B and in January he could go elsewhere, while Colombo has scored three Serie A goals for Lecce who have decided to exercise their €2.5m option to buy, but Milan have a buy-back at €3.5m that will almost certainly be used should his good run continue.
Olivier Giroud is clearly the certainty of the striker department for Milan, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the ‘wild card’ until next summer at least, but all others are under examination for the time being and that is why an investment in a new striker may finally have to happen.
Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are looking around and they have two young profiles in mind: Noah Okafor at Salzburg (22) and Armando Broja at Chelsea (21), both valued at €35-40m. It is a significant figure that Milan hope to have to be able to invest elsewhere with one of their current young players exploding.
