CM: Milan secure ‘pre-emption right’ with Chelsea for Joao Felix – the situation

Joao Felix was one of three deadline day arrivals for AC Milan in a busy winter transfer window, and there is already talk of trying to make his loan permanent.

Calciomercato.com begin a report by stating that ‘the light of the Portuguese talent has already illuminated the attacking phase’ for Milan. He scored on his debut against Roma with a nice lob over the goalkeeper, and showed off more of his tricks and desire to make things happen against Empoli.

Felix is ‘a player constantly on a mission towards aesthetic perfection’ which is a contrast to the pleas of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who asks him to be clinical in front of goal, to be one of the catalysts for a charge back to the Champions League.

However, the Swede’s eyes light up when he talks about the Portugal international, partly because of the success of the late operation to bring him in from Chelsea but also partly because he knows Milan have a maverick player, in the Kaka mould and eager to show his best.

Joao Felix has also united with a coach who really wanted him in Sergio Conceicao. The relationship between the two is special despite this being their first working experience together and tonight the forward should be confirmed in the starting line-up.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic lifted the lid on how things went during Felix’s unveiling press conference: “Once this opportunity presented itself, we discussed it internally before closing it in a short time.” There was certainly some help from agent Jorge Mendes.

In the end a six-month dry loan for €2m plus €3m in bonuses was agreed, and ‘Joao Felix-mania’ could lead him to push to stay. The Rossoneri have ‘a sort of pre-emption right’: they will sit down with Chelsea at the end of June to agree new terms, this time for a permanent deal.

          1. Yeah but he’s not wrong. It’s just two games. People already want to give him a contract for life. I think this reflects more on the fact that we’ve been suffering for too long with Banter quality players and in the last couple of seasons we’ve begin to slip back into that. So I get it, but let’s also be real. Felix’s future is not, and should not, be something that needs to be resolved in February. Let’s see how he does for the rest of the season and discuss in June.

          2. Vero always with the negative spin, two solid games is not enough to sign him sure but I can’t think of a more positive way to start life at a new club. If he continues like this I hope Milan sign him, if he falls off then I hope they don’t. Stop 💩 on optimism just because you’re emotionally fragile it’s not a good thing

        1. Joao Felix has improved the team, so I think you need to know a little bit about football first, before you start making comments like that,

  1. 10-15M loan with obligation for 20-25M would be fair for everyone… with amortization Chelsea won’t lose money, they will save on salary, sell the player to a non-local team that they only needed for FFP so that Conor Gallagher could join Atletico…

If Jorge Mendes can just take Laporta’s c0ck out of his mouth with the BS Leao move, he can be a very good asset for us… Even more when our coach is also his client and like it or not he has to help him…

Everything is in our favor have to say…

    1. Disagree. Chelsea will ask for at least 40M to break even. Considering that we’ll need to spend ~35M for Ricci in an area where we need to add quality, I don’t see Felix happening at 15M paid loan, nevermind the full 40M in cash. There is no need to pay 15M for the loan. I’ve never even heard of this amount being paid by a club for a loan. More likely it will be another paid loan at 5M with an obligation to buy at 30M in 2026 (assuming he proves himself worthy in the long run). Of course, if Ricci doesn’t arrive…

    1. Not even close to Kaka. It took two games (at Milan) for everyone to want to sign Felix permanently. CDK spent a season and did nothing. I’m happy that he’s finding success at Atalanta, but their system/Gasperini 100% plays a role in this. How many players joined Atalanta as unknowns, became known, left for big money and then flopped? Quite a few. More recently Koopmeiners comes to mind. So unlike some, I’m not crying for CDK.

  2. Yes it is logical to ask yourself why is so big pressure from media about Felix. Like many before me asked. It is obvious that Felix is overpaid player.
So Chelsea paid 50 million in terms of transfer fee and they show in books 10 million of ammortisation per year. Plus his wage is 8 million gross or something like that.
Every year he costs 20 million club on sheet. And Chelsea don’t want to use him. They have so many other players.
Obviously Milan do want Felix. They see him as potential Central Forward in terms when central forward is not there (injured or In need of rest) and primarily as acm – attacking midfielder. Felix thinks he can be more as a second striker.
In terms where coach managed to apply his ideas and use wingers more in defensive roles, Felix can stay more in attack. If he can’t do it, Felix will ge more defensive like Brahim Diaz. Brahim Diaz is missing piece in this ac milan team, and they think that they found him in Joao Felix.
But still 20 million yearly cost is too much. Chelsea and Felix must renegotiate terms with Milan.

    1. Yes, what you wrote would make sense if Chelsea didn’t pay 54M euros for that player not even 7 months ago. It is like he was already there, so they didn’t want him…

  3. He is good but not worth 120 mil in my opinion, a good player not more and he will not add more to what he can do now based on his previous experience with other clubs. I really hope he can prove me wrong.

He should not be involved in Leao sale, because my feeling he was not loaned by mendes to pave the way for Leao to leave.
