MN: From salaries to harmony – Milan’s project built around three immovable pillars

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are currently operating as a club under three immovable principles that affect the big decisions they make, according to one journalist.

In his latest for MilanNews, Franco Ordine reports that Milan have a model which is planted on three unprecedented pillars. The first is not to chase the crazy requests of players and agents over contract, as seen with the exits of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Other clubs in Serie A – in particular Inter – are still linked to the old pre-Covid model which saw them lose mountain of money to secure players at figures they are simply not worth, which increases their debts and losses.

The second pillar is pursuing the sustainability of the budget by reducing the amount of salaries and trying to raise the income from sponsors in the post-Covid era.

Finally, the third is cementing the three key ‘souls’ of the club, which is CEO Ivan Gazidis, the technical area and the staff plus the team. This is easier said than done given everyone has their own idea about what would take Milan to the next level.
