Tuttosport: Milan want Real Madrid man to raise the level of the right wing – the complication

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to improve the quality they have on the flanks and that is why they have targeted Marco Asensio, a report claims.

Milan have Rafael Leao on the left side who is having a breakout season despite his recent struggles and his back-up is a player of quality in Ante Rebic, but on the right side Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias just are not cutting it any more.

According to what Tuttosport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning, Milan would like to work in the summer to reinforce the attacking department on the right, to try to bring it to the level of the left.

The name that has emerged in the last few hours is that of Marco Asensio whose contract with Real Madrid expires in 2023 and he is only 26 years old, with plenty of experience and over 10 trophies to his name making him a very useful profile.

There could be some difficulties related to the current €5.5m net per season salary he receives which is not necessarily a problem to Maldini and Massara but his entourage have suggested that Asensio wants a pay rise from his next club.

In addition, there is competition from the Premier League where Asensio has many admirers and where the economic availability is certainly greater than in Serie A. Despite this, Milan boast great relations with Real Madrid which could help.

  1. We can offer him 6m euro nett /season + starting spot at RW. His salary can be covered by get rid castilejo, junior messias, caldara salary next season. His presence will boost RW as he have good long shoot, drible, technique

  2. Just give him 7m. It will be worth it. Real Madrid experience and Spanish international. Would probably immediately become our best midfielder. The reduction (or complete removal) of Ibrahimovic’s salary will enable this.

  3. I like Asensio a lot. Would be a great signing and I think a bit more realistic price wise than Dybala (but could end up just as good or perhaps even better player). He hasn’t had as many opportunities at Madrid and also had an injury and was out for a while last year (but everyone praised him for how hard he worked and rehabbed to get back); so I think he also has good character. Would be worth the money IMO.

  4. I don’t see us giving players like Asensio or Sanches salaries of 5.5m or more. I hope I’m wrong because I would love us to add both players – but I cannot see it. Our existing core players like Theo, Leao, Tomori, Tonali, etc…would not be happy making less IMO and I’m sure Leao would ask for more $ to be on par with the newer higher paid players. Should we do it – YES. 5-6m is not a lot of $$ compared to what the English clubs pay. Will Elliott do it??? I don’t believe so. They want to keep the salary structure so I doubt we give new players these kinds of salaries. Ibra was a one time exception at that time w suck a young team with no experience. Now we have grown up. Same applies to a player like Dybala. Would love to have him but I don’t see us giving him 8-12M he wants. We need to focus on more realistic targets IMO.

    1. He only get 5m euro nett at real Madrid. We can get rid unused player salary like junior, castilejo, caldara,Bakayoko next season to give asensio 6-7m euro nett. I think 6m euro nett + starting spot reguler in RW already enough to convince him. For Dybala i don’t think AC Milan are willing to satisfy his demand 10m euro nett due to his injury record in last 2 season
