There was some January interest in Koni De Winter, but AC Milan and Massimiliano Allegri said no to his potential sale.
De Winter joined Milan in the summer transfer window from Genoa not long after Malick Thiaw’s big-money sale to Newcastle United. He struggled for opportunities for the first few months, and when he did get them there were often mistakes in his performances.

However, since the turn of the year De Winter seems to be almost a different player. The Belgian anchored the defensive line again on Sunday in the 2-0 win against Cremonese, and even had a hand in the winning goal.
Winter interest rebuffed
Tuttosport journalist Nicolò Schira has published the following on his X profile: “Milan are very satisfied with Koni De Winter’s last performances. He had been approached by two Premier League’s Clubs in January, but Max Allegri pushed to keep him because he was convinced of his break-out.”
The facts are proving the coach right: De Winter is repaying his faith with solid performances, confirming himself as a key pillar in Milan’s push at the top of the table. He is playing with the kind of personality and quality that convinced the management to pay €20m in the first place.
It is unclear which teams were interested in signing the 23-year-old in the recent window, nor whether there were any official offers made, but given that Milan did not sign a central defender they were certainly never going to let one leave either.
