MN: €480k man to immovable starter – Milan ready to reward Kalulu with big pay rise

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has been able to count upon the reliability of Pierre Kalulu during the crucial phase of the season, and now a reward is planned.

Milan have conceded just 2 league goals in their last 10 games and a large part of that is because of the way Kalulu has stepped up to the plate. MilanNews recall how the Frenchman arrived from Lyon two summers ago for a development fee of €480k, but not many thought he could be irreplaceable so soon.

He was a full-back who had no appearances for Lyon’s senior side but through hard work and making the most of his opportunities, he has formed a fantastic pairing with Fikayo Tomori full of aggression and speed that can battle the best strikers in the league.

The renewal of the contract is ready for the 21-year-old and discussions have been going on for a few months, but the performances recently have served to accelerate the negotiations, so much so that they are likely to conclude shortly after the end of the season.

Kalulu is expected to sign an extension until 2026 with an increase in the salary from €500k net per season to €1.5m plus bonuses.

  1. That is why I don’t understand why Botman is even on the cards. I was expecting a Botman like signing (tall defender), but a young player for under 10M to grow with Kjaer, Tomori and Romagnoli if he stays.
