CM: Intriguing comments, price tag and competition – latest on Milan’s pursuit of Salzburg star

AC Milan have been impressed by what they have seen from Red Bull Salzburg star Noah Okafor and could make a concrete move, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com begin their update on Milan’s pursuit of Okafor by recalling the forward’s comments from yesterday: “Milan? They’re a very strong team. We are talking about a great club, with a legendary history. Whether it’s England, Spain, Italy or Germany, each league has a particular charm. The same goes for individual clubs. When there is something concrete we will evaluate all together, analysing the various factors.”

At the moment there is nothing concrete, but the interest of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara in Okafor is there. The Swiss international has scored 3 times in 5 Champions League matches this season – including against the Rossoneri – and his agent knows that Milan are keen.

The management like the 22-year-old because he is considered a modern forward who is quick, physically strong and technically good, as well as flexible given that he can also play as a left winger.

Okafor is not considered the heir to Rafael Leao despite some sources saying otherwise, but if the Portuguese winger were sold then he would become one of the hottest names.

The problem is represented by the price tag, as Salzburg – who paid €12m to sign him from FC Basel – want at least €30-35m, with interest from the Premier League where Leeds and Arsenal like Okafor too.
