Bild: Milan are back in for €8m Schalke defender as club director confirms ‘interest’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have once again been linked with a move for Schalke 04 centre-back Malick Thiaw who could leave in a low-cost deal this summer.

According to a report from SportBild, (via Bulinews), Schalke’s sporting director Rouven Schröder has confirmed that Thiaw has attracted interest from clubs in Serie A.

“Overall, there is a lot of interest from the Serie A. He is a top central defender, still has a long-term contract and fits into our team very well, of course. But he knows my phone number, should a club show interest,” Schröder told them.

When asked if he could reveal the clubs that have enquired, he replied: “No, but AC Milan came knocking for him six months ago, so of course we’re talking about a certain category.”

According to the report, the Rossoneri are once again keen on the Germany U21 international after their attempts to get a deal done in January, while Torino and Bologna have also made their interest known.

Not only that, but the German source states that €8m is thought to be enough to prize him away from Schalke, who are still suffering with financial problems despite securing a return to the Bundesliga.

  1. Ya sure because “He is a top central defender, still has a long-term contract and fits into our team very well, of course” – yet ppl really think Schalke will give him to us for only 8M???? LOL. Wake up. Not happening for 8M. Just like CDK not happening for only 35M. These are all BS stories. We have no $$$ and cannot buy such players

    1. Geez bro go touch some grass, you’re so pathetic commenting in every damn post here the same thing. Are you an Inter troll or what? Nobody knows the exact budget for the transfer market, it’s almost impossible to know outside of the ppl at the club. Any journalist that comes with a random amount is most certainly lying for clicks. Most probably the main reason behind this slow mercato is the transfer in ownership that came at a bad time, look at Chelsea who also changed owners recently and haven’t done any market moves yet.

  2. Milan offered 10 mil for this guy in January and was turned down. That was when they were in the second German league. If they are back in Bundesliga why would they sell him for 8 mil
