CM: Milan had scout present to watch Argentine striker in red hot form

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan had a scout on hand in Argentina to watch a striker ahead of a potential summer move, according to a report.

Milan’s problems in the centre-forward department this season have been well documented as Olivier Giroud will turn 37 this year and has been working overtime since arriving, Divock Origi has not hit the ground running and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could well retire at the end of the season.

The problem extends beyond this season tough. In the last 20 seasons, Milan have had only two players who have hit 20+ goals in the league: Andriy Shevchenko (2003-04, 24 goals) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2011-12, 28 goals).

A report from Calciomercato.com suggests that the management are aware of the need to sign a new No.9 in the summer, because in the last match between Tigre and Argentinos Juniors there was a scout there on behalf of the club.

The player they were watching is Mateo Retegui, who is currently on loan at Tigre from Boca Juniors and has scored 6 goals in the first 6 league games of the season. However, he did not score yesterday as his side lost 1-0.

  1. Really smart and funny comment. They clickbaited me too, they are getting pros in clickbaiting us :))) When i see a new name in our “shortlist” of players i must say i never research at least when i see him mentioned 2nd or maybe 3rd time. We have been watching so many players, its unbelieveble how some of our transfers didnt shine atm.
