GdS: On-field results and financial improvements – Milan set an example in Serie A

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s path towards financial sustainability makes them an example for the rest of the clubs in Serie A to follow, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports, the stance of the ownership looks like it is paying off, because Milan have returned to making their fans dream and to attracting new sponsors. The investment capacity of a club that was about to hit bottom under Chinese management is growing.

Potential new signings are even more attracted by the idea of joining the Rossoneri and that will raise even more if the coveted Scudetto arrives. Whoever wins the league gets €20m plus the €3m from playing in the Italian Super Cup.

Then there are the Champions League prizes: the winner of Serie A collects €10m in addition to the participation bonus, the historical ranking and money for results that bring in at least another €40m.

On the pitch the team are competitive while off the field the accounts continue to improve as the losses dropped from €-194m in 2019-20 to €-90m in 2020-21. The Rossoneri are the best example in Serie A when it comes to simultaneous sporting and financial success.
