Tuttosport: Why Milan have shelved talks with Chelsea over Ziyech for the time being

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been working on a deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea but it could yet be abandoned, according to a report.

According to a report from Tuttosport (via MilanNews), it seems as though the deal for Charles De Ketelaere has finally been unlocked, which means that Milan have put the Ziyech talks on stand-by for the time being.

The Rossoneri currently see him more as an alternative to the young Belgian attacking midfielder as opposed to being a complementary piece, but that could be an economic judgement as well as technical.

The Morocco international’s name could come back into fashion in the coming weeks as the clock continues to tick, but that would be in the case that there is an exit in the right wing department, namely if an offer arrives for either Alexis Saelemaekers or Junior Messias that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara deem worthy of accepting.

    1. Id keep Messias as back up to a new arrival, or Diaz if CDK signs and he moves out wide. Nobody will buy Salamakers though.

    2. First of all, you don’t understand what a paraplegic is. Messias got 5 goals and 3 assists last season, coming from Crotone, Ziyech got 4 goals and 3 assists, and has a ton of experience of playing at the highest level. Ziyech isn’t worth the investment.

      1. Messias stats (per minute) at Champions League last season is better than Ziyech. I would rather see CdK as RW than Ziyech.

  1. Messias is a year older than Ziyech, seems strange we signed him perma deal when Ziyech would be a true starter at RW.

Not sure why we signed Messias when better players were available. I’m assuming M&M will entertain offers for Saelemaekers to free up funds but it’s obvious all last season we’ve needed an upgrade on the right and I don’t think CDK has been signed for that role?

    1. Messias was cheap and his numbers are fine, all things considered. To expect him to be amazing right off the bat, given this was his first time at a big club, and given his background, is stupid.

      1. Have you watched messiahs play? 6 goals a season is not fine for starting rw (neither is 2), but none of those goals come from good play. He is just extraordinarily lucky, and offers no creativity. And least Saleamakers is creative, even if his end product is lacking; I just think Pioli didn’t let him use his skills

  2. To consider that he’s gonna get better with further experience is kinda stupid as well. He’s gonna age too.

that said I’d sell Alexis than Messias.

    1. His physical attribute will decrease as he age, but given that he is just few years in professional footbal, he still has room for improvement on tactical side.

  3. Neither Messias or Saelemakers are moving in this transfer market.
Saele is Belgian and a good anchor point for Origi and CDK. You guys forget that CDK is 21 year old and in a new country.
Messias was just bought and Saele was renewed less than a year ago.
I think asking to sell Saele at this point is similar to asking to sell Leao last year instead of Hauge, management knows much better than what we see in a game

The only two at risk of being let go (in addition to Bakayoko which imo is guaranteed to leave) are Diaz and Ballo-Toure at this point
