Tuttosport: Milan squad will meet again today – recoveries will be crucial for Pioli

Most of the AC Milan squad will reconvene at Milanello today to begin preparations for the resumption of Serie A action after the break.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how the players who are not at the World Cup will be at the training complex today and will instantly put their sights on January 4, the day in which the Rossoneri will resume their season at the Arechi against Salernitana.

Recoveries will be fundamental for Stefano Pioli’s team as they were battling an injury crisis for most of the first part of the season (again). Mike Maignan hasn’t played since mid-September and Ciprian Tatarusanu – who hasn’t made any big mistakes – still gives less guarantees than the Frenchman.

Milan then had to do without most of their right flank as captain Davide Calabria and winger Alexis Saelemaekers have been sidelined since the beginning of October. Both are close to returning.

Of course 2023 also means the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will be in Dubai with the team for their warm weather winter training camp, and could return in January.
