MN: Milan star suffers Puskas Award disappointment

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan star Theo Hernandez has suffered a minor disappointment as his goal has not made it to the final stages of the FIFA Puskas Award, a report claims.

According to Milan News, the French defender’s incredible solo strike against Atalanta in the 2021/22 campaign has not made it into the final three entries that will face off to win the award.

Hernandez’s entry saw him pick up the ball on the edge of his own box against Atalanta at San Siro and drive through multiple players into the opposition box before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

The players who have made it into the final round are Dmitri Payet, Richarlison and Marcin Oleksy.

After helping Milan to secure just a second win in 2023, Hernandez will likely not dwell on the Puskas Award for long as he looks to build on the assist he provided for Olivier Giroud for the winning goal.

  1. I’ll always remember this goal. For me, it’s a kind of goal that made us believe we really could win the Scudetto. Beyond significant.
